By vocation, I am a musician, and by vocation a player — no duh — so there are few situations where the sound is not important for me. Whether it s listening to recordings, music that I create or games I play, I want my sound to be clean, balanced, powerful and enveloping. I also want to be able to model the sound so that it adapts to the situation, because sometimes I want a neutral and natural equalizer, and sometimes I want to feel like being in the middle of a battlefield, with the bass that twist me with a belly. Nodes. Does the Kraken V3 Hypersense de Racer meet all my needs? And what will be suitable for yours?
The Racer Kraken V3 Hypersense is a closed headset with 50 mm Triforce drivers and a 20 Hz frequency range at 20 kHz, which is certainly acceptable for this type and price range (about $139), if not quite the audiophile standard. It has a removable hyperclear cardioid microphone and a braided cable. As with many Racer products, it has a chroma lighting on the atria, which can be synchronized with RACER mice to make changes in tandem lighting.
As the name suggests, the V3 includes Hypersense, which is the audio version of Racer from the haptic return. Hypersense, like rumble on a controller, adds another layer of immersion and, in theory at least, a more precise directionally in shooters and other competitive action games, where the location of enemies in the environment is essential. There are three levels low, medium and high — controlled by a rocker on the right atrium. In my experience, the functionality depended greatly on the game and was not universally useful and was more clearly noticeable at the average setting. Too often, the high adjustment caused a distorted sound that simply sounded like bass saturated frequencies. I am not a competitive player, but I can say that when it works, Hypersense does a great job by adding clarity and audio mixing space. It is a fun added to the sound, as the addition of a new vibrant color to the palette of a painter.
Out of the box, I was impressed by the quality of construction and the sensation of Kraken V3. It is securely and precisely assembled with an excellent fit and an attractive matte finish. At 0.73 lbs, it is not an ultra-light helmet, but it is balanced and comfortable over long periods of port, and its ingredient memory foam headsets wrapped in leather and fabric are really luxurious. Being a closed helmet, it naturally makes good acoustic insulation work. The quality braided cable is permanently attached, but I have a complaint about it. Although the helmet is announced on the box as compatible with PC, Mac and PlayStation, the cable is far too short to be useful in many console configurations, if not most. I have almost all my equipment nearby, but the cable provided has barely reached my PS5. It s a shame too, because I saw the V3 well become my favorite helmet for the console.
Aside from the management of audio in the games, Kraken V3 was quite impressive as a companion to listen to music. I mean, let s be realistic, it will not replace a pair of Sennheiser at $1,500 with a frequency response from 4 Hz to 60 kHz, but to listen to music or videos on streaming or YouTube services, that Will work very well, and thanks to the facility- to use the Racer Synapse software, the audio experience can be refined for music, movies or games. Especially when it comes to using the headset and the microphone for communication, my personal preference goes to open helmets, but the detachable microphone sounded clear and without distortion. It has a quite narrow frequency answer from 100 Hz to 10 kHz, you will not want much to record with, but in the heat of the action, it works and sounds well.
My first impressions on the brazen v3 hypersense ready to use were those of a well done and attractive helmet, and my positive impressions continued while I put the v3 to the test in the games, listening to music And the video. It is durable, comfortable and adaptable to a wide range of situations. Although I wish the cable to be just a little longer in order to adapt more practically to the configuration of my console, it sounded just as well with my PC and my PS5. The Hypersense feature was a little random, but when it worked, it definitely added an extra element to the gaming experience. The Brazen V3 Hypersense is an excellent booster helmet for players looking for quality audio improvement.
